Amanda Broadhurst - Parish Clerk
I left school, once I’d finished my A level studies, to take up a position in a Building Society in Marylebone, which had always been my childhood dream. Within 3 years I was employed as the only woman in the Engineering Department of a London Bus Garage. I married Steve and later we had our two boys, Christopher and James. They both attended a nursery which I later helped to manage in my capacity as Chair. It is a position I still hold, even though James is now 16! I am also a Parent Governor at their secondary school.
In 2008 I decided that maybe it was time to get back into ‘proper’ work and I still love my varied role, helping residents in Harrietsham.
Mike Cuerden - Responsible Finance Officer (RFO)
Pamela and I moved to Harrietsham in 1984, and subsequently raised our three children here.
I have just reached the 40-year point of a career in IT, commencing in the mid-70s with a degree in computer science, and then dealing mostly in systems specification, implementation, consultancy and management. I started trading locally in late 2003 as Harrietsham Computers, doing computer and network supply, repairs, and upgrades. In 2001, I was asked to become the council’s part-time finance officer.
In addition, from 2004 I took a part-time job selling the tickets at the Harrietsham railway station, and in 2006, I became the treasurer for our local parish church.
